National Pension Program（国民年金）

This is the system that protects your old age livelihood, if you have made pension payments during your working life. As of August 1, 2017, you are now eligible to receive national pension from the age of 65 for the rest of your life, if you have more than 10 years paying into the national pension.

　現役世代時に保険料を納付することで、老後の生活　基盤づくりをする制度です。平成29年8月1日からは国民年金の納付期間などが10年以上あれば、65歳以降、生涯にわたり国民年金を受け取ることができるようになりました。

People who live in Japan and who are between the ages 20 and 60 (whether of Japanese nationality or not) are designated for the National Pension Program.  Please undergo the procedure for ‘obtaining qualification’ at the National Pension reception in City Hall.
Japan Pension Service sends a notice for enrollment in National Pension System to those who turned 20 years old.   Self-employed persons or those who engaged in agriculture etc. need to pay contributions by themselves.  If you have difficulty paying contributions, you can apply for an exemption.
※People who are employed in companies etc and have been enrolled in employee pensions or Mutual Benefit Associations are at the same time eligible for a National Pension.  Enrolment procedures will be carried out by your employer when joining the Employee Pension Programs or Mutual Benefit Associations.

　日本国内に住んでいる20歳以上60歳未満の方は、日本国籍があるなしにかかわらず、すべて国民年金に加入することになっています。市役所の国民年金の窓口で「資格取得」の手続きを行ってください。
　なお、20歳になった方には、日本年金機構から国民年金に加入したことをお知らせします。また、自営業者、農業などに従事している方は、国民年金保険料を自分で納める必要があります。納付が困難な場合、免除になることがありますので、申請をしてください。
※会社などにお勤めで、厚生年金保険や共済組合に加入している方も同時に国民年金に加入することになります。加入手続きは、厚生年金保険や共済組合に加入したときに勤め先が行ってくれます。
