Admission of Non-Japanese nationals to Municipal Primary School / Junior High School（外国籍の方の市立小学校・中学校の入学）

Primary school is a six-grade system and junior high school is a three-grade system.
The primary school period is six years from April 1st after the child’s 6th birthday.

• Procedure of admission to elementary school
  According to your residence certificate (Jumin-hyo), a school guide and an application form for school admission will be sent in the middle of October to those who have a child whose 6th birthday is on or before April 1 of the next year.　Whether you want to enroll or not, please complete the school registration form, and submit it to the Education Promotion Division Academic Affairs Section (Gakko Kyoiku Suishin-ka Gakuji-gakari ) by the beginning of November.
  School Attendance Notice or Notice of Admission will be sent to you by the end of December in order to inform you of the school in which your child will be enrolled. When you enroll your child in a municipal elementary school in Yao city, bring it to the assigned school on the day of a school information session held in January or February.
• Procedure of admission to Junior High School
  Notice of admission to junior high school will be sent by the end of December to those who have a child who is in the 6th grade of elementary school. Please bring it with you to the entrance ceremony of the assigned school.

• Procedure of mid-year entrance
  In the case you transfer from another municipality or country to Yao city in the middle of the school year, children within the compulsory school age can go to municipal elementary school or junior high school. Please come to the Education Promotion Division Academic Affairs Section (Gakko Kyoiku Suishin-ka Gakuji-gakari) after completing the procedure of change of residency at the Civic Department (Shimin-ka).

小学校は6年制、中学校は3年制です。
小学校の期間は、お子さんが満6歳に達した日の翌日以後における最初の4月1日から6年間です。

• 小学校入学の手続き
  10月中旬ごろ本市の住民票に基づき、翌年度の小学校への入学対象となるお子さんの保護者に対し、就学案内と入学申請書を送付します。就学希望の有無にかかわらず、入学申請書に必要事項を記入のうえ、11月初旬までに学校教育推進課学事係へ提出してください。
  12月末までに入学する学校が記載された就学通知書または入学通知書を保護者宛に送付します。内容を確認のうえ、八尾市立小学校への入学を希望する場合は、1月～2月ごろに各小学校で開催される入学説明会に持参してください。
• 中学校入学の手続き
  12月末までに小学校6年生に在籍する児童の保護者に対し中学校の入学通知書を送付します。内容を確認のうえ、八尾市立中学校への入学を希望する場合は、中学校の入学式に持参してください。

※1月初旬までに就学通知書または入学通知書が届かない場合は、下記までお問い合わせください。

• 年度途中の入学手続き
  年度の途中に他市や国外から八尾市へ転入した場合も、義務教育の対象年齢のお子さんは八尾市立小中学校へ通えます。
  市民課で住民異動の届出をしてから、学校教育推進課学事係へお越しください。
